This is an open invitation to you all, from the journal Fennia (https://fennia.journal.fi/), to contribute to our next editorial. As another attempt to generate discussion and shift the course of academic publishing, we are publishing a collective editorial with the participants of this discussion forum. If you want to take part, please send us your response to the following question by November 25: “What are you concerned of regarding refuge and asylum seeking in the contemporary populist world?” The responses will remain anonymous in the editorial compiled by the editors of Fennia. So collective credit (only) available here – yet we encourage everyone who takes part to include the editorial in their CV!
The editorial is closely related with what we have been working on this year. We are publishing a critical scholarly discussion “On Welcome” in our two issues, generated as responses to the Fennia 2017 lecture by Nick Gill, titled “The Suppression of Welcome” and published in the journal (https://fennia.journal.fi/article/view/70040). Thus far, the discussion involves 12 critical scholars (see the current issue and the forthcoming section), and we are happy to include more commentaries should some of you wish to continue the discussion. At this point, we want to draw attention to it in and beyond geography, in and beyond academic communities, by involving as many of you as possible in our introduction of the discussion.
