The MA in Migration and Mobility challenges you to think in new and creative ways about the contemporary movement of people, things, and ideas around the globe.
Migration and mobility are fundamental forces shaping both political and economic debates and people’s social and intimate lives. Grounded in the distinctive theories and practices of anthropology, and drawing on cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on migration and mobility, this programme is designed to advance your knowledge and understanding of, and critical engagement with, contemporary processes of migration. It provides you with the critical conceptual tools for thinking differently about global movements, while also developing a diverse set of skills that will enable you to investigate and address these issues.
Based in the Department of Anthropology, the degree also draws on interdisciplinary expertise in the Departments of Sociology and Media and Communications, through the Migration Research Network. You’ll study in an academic community that is engaged with the key social and political issues shaping people’s im/mobilities around the globe.
